(Cutting Grown)

Here’s one of those plants that looks delicate at first glance, then proves it’s anything but. It forms a neat, upright shrub with slightly arching branches. The narrow, glossy leaves keep it looking tidy, but the real show is the yellow tubular flowers, about 3/4" across, with five widely spreading lobes and a throat streaked with purple-brown. Flowering usually peaks in summer, though you can often catch blooms at other times. Tough, drought-tolerant, and happy in poor soils—sign me up!

Just keep in mind that, like many Solanaceae, the leaves and stems are mildly toxic if ingested.
