(Cutting Grown )
Mega Maize seems like a weird name for a Banksia, right? But those unopened inflorescences look just like cobs of corn (though some Iowans might disagree!). This is a stunning, tall-flowering selection of the tough-as-boots Coastal Banksia from Eastern Australia. They have a pink, mauve, or green tint to the buds that you won't find on the regular species, before opening to the usual yellow/gold. To make sure that tall-flower trait stays put, I've grown this character from cuttings rather than seed.
