(Cutting Grown)
Grevillea obtusifolia is one of the toughest Western Australian grevilleas around. Depending on the form, it can range from a flat groundcover to a shrub 2–3 feet tall. The selection offered here is appropriately name 'Flat Mate' and was grown from seed and immediately stood out for its unusually prostrate habit, staying noticeably lower and flatter than its siblings. It appears very similar to the form sold in Australia as 'Gin Gin Gem', though only time will tell if it maintains the same low-growing habit as it matures.
Exceptionally adaptable, it handles heat, drought, frost, full sun, and even a surprising amount of shade. The small pink flowers often hide among the foliage, so the real appeal is the plant itself—a dense, evergreen groundcover that looks good year-round and thrives in places where many other plants struggle.
