(Seed Grown)
Show of hands who appreciates the lumping and splitting of plants, the second after learning their name... Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? No one? Exactly. So let me introduce you to Hakea coriacea, which is now Hakea francisiana, but because I'm 1. a slow learner and 2. stubborn, it will remain listed here as Hakea coriacea. Tantrum complete.
So why grow this character? It's easy in most soils, fast growing, can handle some cold, flowers during the brrr months of the year, and helps out your neighborhood pollinators when there are few choices available. The flowers do great in the vase, too. Call it what you will, this is a great plant.
