(Seed Grown)
The Tiger-Snake Vine (or Black Coral Pea for the squeamish) is a powerhouse plant that will quickly cover that ugly chainlink fence or provide a solid ground cover if left to ramble at lower altitudes. The flowers are super contrasty and grow in clusters in the Spring to mid Summer in our area. It’s a bit sensitive to frost so keep that in mind before placing it out in the garden. More importantly, give it room to spread out.

I've had this vine for about a year now. It has grown rapidly to about 7 feet tall, and bloomed this Spring. If you doubt that the flowers are really that dark, or think that image is Photoshopped, think again...it's for real! I've got it in a pot in well-draining soil, and it has done well despite heavy Winter rain and cold (close to freezing), and hot Summer days (over 100F). If you love dark/black flowers, you need to add this to your collection.
Great growth with new offshoots just begging to latch on and climb. Cannot wait for it to flower
I’ve wanted to purchase some of Troy’s plants for so long now, and finally pulled the plug. I’m so glad I did. He’s super knowledgeable about all aspects of planting and makes the process of getting plants mailed + acclimated as stress free as possible.
I love all 5 plants I ordered, but this one stands out for how fast it’s growing. This was 2 days after planting out and it’s already climbing so well!
With the family name "Kennedy", I've been fascinated for years to enjoy the botanical name "Kennedia" as well. I once had black coral pea in a big garden pot. Something (???, I suspect too much water) went amiss and I lost the plant. I've tried many times (over years) since to germinate seed - about a 4% success rate. I currently have two plants and rejoiced to discover that WM has them. More, they don't look as good as WM's!
