(Seed Grown)

Veltheimia capensis is a winter-growing South African bulb with wavy, bluish-grey foliage that emerges in autumn and dies back in summer — unlike Veltheimia bracteata, which can stay evergreen when happy. In late autumn, it sends up a sturdy stem topped with pendulous pink tubular flowers that are subtly speckled and wonderfully exotic.

Thriving in full sun with excellent drainage, it’s drought-tolerant once established and adds sculptural form and seasonal drama to dry, sunny gardens with minimal fuss.
